Reliance Communications in talks with Avaya to deploy video-teller machines across group businesses
The objective is to consolidate the services of the group into a single, self-service, fully integrated, video-enabled branch kiosk, a source said.
The objective is to consolidate the services of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group into a single, self-service, fully integrated, video-enabled branch kiosk, a person familiar with the matter said. Discussions are in the ‘final stage’ and both companies are close to inking a deal, although they are tightlipped about the financial details. With the kiosks, the group’s services will be accessible from a single point. It will connect customers with the call centre and showcase new products and services to them.
Apart from cost savings on rentals, the group would eliminate expenditure on setting up multiple branches, besides facilitating forays into untapped markets in rural and remote areas. The group has interests ranging from communications and financial services to generation, transmission and distribution of power, infrastructure and entertainment.
RCOM and Avaya did not respond to ET’s e-mailed queries on the planned deal.
