RComm offers STD at Re 1, and local call at 50 paisa

MUMBAI: Telecom major Reliance Communications (RCom) today announced a new lifetime plan for pre-paid subscribers who will be able to make STD calls at Re 1 and local calls at 50 paisa each. The new offer will be available to new as well as existing lifetime validity customers at over 5 lakh e-charge outlets of the company from October 16.

The new plan 'Lifetime Jadu Pack' will be offered for life to all those making a one-time payment of Rs 550, S P Shukla, President, Wireless Business, RComm told reporters. He said these are the best rates offered and expected all its subscribers to opt for the new tariff plan.

Shukla said the new tariff plan is attractive as compared to the earlier Rs 1.50 for STD and Re 1 for a local call. Shukla conceded that the competitors may also come up with a similar offer. "When they feel that they are losing sizable number of customers, they will try to match our offer," he said.

He said the new offer would not affect the revenues of the company as it will result in more subscribers coming in and existing customers increasing their usage. Referring to the continuous fall in telecom rates, Shukla.
