NEW DELHI: Within days of it getting spectrum, Anil Ambani led Reliance Communications is understood to have placed a bulk order for equipment with Chinese company Huawei, a company source said.

The company has already announced a rodmap, envisaging an investment of Rs 6,000 crore, for rolling out GSM mobile services in 14 states for which it has been given the radio waves.

The source said the company's order size was worth $500 million.

With the entry of new players like Reliance Communications and others, Chines equipment majors like ZTE and Huawei are loking to grab a big share of the equipment market in India.

RCom recently received spectrum for starting GSM mobile services in 14 circles, enabling it to become the first entity to get a pan-India footprint under the new dual technology.

It is already present in GSM space in the other eight circles through Reliance Telecom.
