Raja expects solution to BlackBerry by month-end

Telecom Minister A Raja on Thursday said the security issues over BlackBerry are likely to be resolved by the end of this month.

NEW DELHI: Telecom Minister A Raja on Thursday said the security issues over BlackBerry are likely to be resolved by the end of this month.

"The solution to the Blackberry issue, relating to encryption of the data, for security purposes is likely to be possible by June end," he said here.

He said Research-In-Motion, the maker of BlackBerry smartphone, has told the government that it would come out with a solution by the end of this month.

"If they fail to come up with any satisfactory solution, we will invoke other options, like we have been approached by other companies with solution to decrypt the data passed over the BlackBerry network," Raja said.

Consumers need Blackberry as a service and it will not be stopped, he said. "We are working out a solution that would be acceptable to the security agencies."
