Questionnaire on Aircel deal for Maran

NEW DELHI: The CBI is preparing a questionnaire for former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran in connection with the preliminary enquiry (PE) under which his role is being probed for allegedly forcing Aircel’s C Sivasankaran to sell the company to Malaysia basedMaxis.

Sources told TOI that “instead of calling Dayanidhi Maran to the CBI headquarters, it has been decided that a questionnaire would be send to the DMK leader in a few days for which he would have to send a detailed reply” .

Officials said the questionnaire was being prepared on the basis of allegations levelled by Sivasankaran, who had claimed that Maran forced him to sell Aircel to Maxis when he was telecom minister in 2006. He will also be questioned on financial transactions of Sun TV, the channel owned by his Maran family apart from role of telecom ministry in the whole deal.
