MUMBAI: Porsche Design Group and Sagem Mobiles today announced the launch of Porsche Design Mobile Phone P9521 in India. Both firms had signed a license agreement in May 2006 to launch the mobile phone.

"The new mobile phone combines sophisticated, purist design with high-quality natural materials such as aluminium and mineral glass," Porsche Design Vice President Jean-Luc Gueri told reporters.

A P9521 is priced at Rs 77,000, he said. The P9521 features a fingerprint reader, which identifies the user and thus ensures secure access to personal data, Gueri said.

The know-how for this technology was delivered by Sagem, which has expertise in the field of biometrics. The other features in the phone include an auto-focus video and still camera with 3.2 megapixel resolution, MP3 player and a high-speed internet access.

Germany-based Porsche Design is a maker of men's luxury brand. France-based Sagem Mobiles operates in the field of mobile and broadband communication.
