School Education Minister Fauzia Khan announced this while replying to a calling attention motion moved by NCP legislator Vidya Chavan.
School Education Minister Fauzia Khan announced this while replying to a calling attention motion moved by NCP legislator Vidya Chavan demanding action against 30 mobile towers which have been erected on a school in suburban Malad.
"The mobile towers have been casting a disastrous effect on the health of 2,500 students and people residing in the area," Chavan alleged.
To which, the minister picked on Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for delay in taking action against illegal towers.
"BMC should have taken action against these mobile towers. We will direct the BMC commissioner to take action against these towers, in order to protect the health of students from radiation from the towers," Khan told the House.
"The state government will also announce a policy on mobile towers soon. This policy will have various guidelines in it," she added.
Taking cognisance of the rising mobile towers in the metropolis, deputy chairman Vasant Davkhare directed the government to remove illegal mobile towers within a month.
