PIL: Make Anil Ambani, Dayalu Ammal accused in spectrum case

The plea, filed by Delhi-based journalist M Furquan, accused the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of bias in filing of chargesheets.

NEW DELHI: An application was moved before the Special Court hearing the 2G spectrum allocation scam, seeking to make Reliance Telecom chief Anil Ambani and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's wife Dayalu Ammal as accused in the case.

The plea, filed by Delhi-based journalist M Furquan, accused the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of bias in filing of chargesheets.

Special CBI Judge O P Saini listed the matter for hearing on May 24 when he will also hear another application filed by a Ghaziabad-based scrap dealer Dharmender Pandey. Pandey has sought further probe into the role of Tata chief Ratan Tata and corporate lobbyist Niira Radia in the scam.

"Anil Dhirubhai Ambani is not made an accused in the case and this shows a serious omission on the part of CBI. By letting off main accused, CBI has committed a serious miscarriage of justice," Furquan alleged in his plea.

He argued ADAG Group MD Gautam Doshi, senior vice presidents of Reliance Telecom Surendra Pipara and Hari Nair, who are currently lodged in the Tihar Jail for their alleged involvement, are ordinary employees in firm while the fraud involves thousands of crores.
