Over 250 online services launched as per Digital India week: Ravi Shankar Prasad

The communications and IT minister said that over 250 online services have been launched by various state governments and the centre.

NEW DELHI: The communications and IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Friday said that over 250 online services have been launched by various state governments and the centre, indicating the success of the government's Digital India week.

“More than 250 services relating to health, education, public distribution system, Police, agriculture, trade and employment have been launched by various state governments,” Prasad said at a news briefing.

The Digital India week was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 1 in the capital which saw several high profile Indian industrialists and a clutch of foreign investors’ line up investments worth Rs7.72 lakh crore towards Digitising the country.

The services launched under the Digital India week banner include utility services, smart PDS card, land record services, mobile app for civic amenities, services for farmers, social welfare and pension services, electoral services, online court services, police services and employment exchange services.

During the week, events were conducted at state and district levels, villages and panchayats, industry, schools, colleges and universities and Common Service Centres as well as post offices. The events saw workshops on digital literacy activities alongside display of Digital India Films and videos.

Prasad said as many as 150 such events had been organized with a participation more than 98,000 people across the country and close to 25 were attended by various chief ministers, lieutenant governors and Administrators.
