Nokia to offer integrated internet services

With the launch of its services business ‘Ovi’ on the cards, Nokia is going to integrate its existing mobile content and applications store ‘Nokia Download’ with Ovi in India.

KOLKATA: With the launch of its services business Ovi on the cards, Nokia is going to integrate its existing mobile content and applications store Nokia Download with Ovi in India. The Finnish handset vendor also wants to beef up Nokia Download with localised and innovative content to drive significant revenue out of services in India.

For starters, Nokia plans to roll out mobisodes in India, which are short duration TV shows customised for mobile phones. Such mobisodes are planned in areas like news, sports, music clips, childrens and entertainment programmes such as soaps, reality TV shows, drama and comedy. Nokia has tied up with Hungama Mobile to host TV mobisodes like Afterworld and Kahani Hamari Mahabharat Ki.

All our internet services will eventually be an integral part of the overall Ovi brand. Since there is a strong appeal for TV content in India, we are looking at mobisodes to present news and serial highlights for audience on the move, Nokia director-regions (software & services, entertainment & communities) Shankar Meembat told ET.
