MTNL signs pact with US-based institute on cyber security programmes

LATA through MTNL partnership in India can help develop professional programmes in cyber and physical security, Singh added.

NEW DELHI: State-run telecom firm MTNL has signed agreement with US-based Los Alamos Technical Associates (LATA) for launching training programmes on cyber and physical security.

"MTNL is going to start these trainings through its training centres at New Delhi and Mumbai. We will allocate a dedicated resource for this project and impart training so that it is more relevant for Indian conditions," MTNL Chairman and Managing Director A K Garg said in a statement.

He added that MTNL will forward to play a big role for government and the industry in this field.

"First batch of training is likely to start from March 2014," Garg said.

The other training modules will include risk and crisis management, public safety and disaster management, homeland security and critical infrastructure protection, security operations management, industrial security, fire and safety management etc.

"LATA will bring in India through MTNL partnership the best US practices followed in security, which has been developed over a period of time," LATA Washington's Vice President Indu Singh said.

Garg said that MTNL will look at developing a one or two day series of awareness program for the top management of companies and the government departments.

The facilities being developed jointly will be of International Standard and it will cater to global audience of this region and later on MTNL would like to expand these activities from its Mauritius operation center also, MTNL CMD said.
