Motorola, IIT Mumbai tie up for research activities

Mobile handset manufacturer Motorola has tied up with Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, for a joint research in Next Generation telecommunication technologies.

MUMBAI: Mobile handset manufacturer Motorola has tied up with Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, for a joint research in Next Generation telecommunication technologies.

The wireless and broadband communication major is to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with IIT Mumbai, under which Motorola researchers will work with the institute's faculties for research and development initiatives on application of Next Generation Technologies, the firm said here today.

Motorola, with around 3,500 engineers across six of its R&D centers in the country, develops more than 40 per cent of its total software requirement from its Global Software Group, Bangalore.

In association with IIT Mumbai, it has also set up a council to enhance long-range research between the institute and Motorola, besides training students of IIT Mumbai, the release said.
