KPCC wants judicial probe in Smart City project deal
The Kerala PCC on Friday demanded a judicial probe by a sitting judge into the deal clinched between the state government and Dubai-based TECOM Investments for setting up the Smart City IT project at Kochi.
Addressing a press meet at the KPCC headquarters here, PCC President Ramesh Chennithala alleged that the final agreement was signed after making changes in certain conditions approved by the Cabinet.
He claimed that the present conditions were in favour of the Technology Freezone Authority (TECOM).
On the anti-encroachment drive in Munnar, Chennithala said the process of eviction had slowed down and wanted transparency and effective action against the encroachers.
He said those workers who became unemployed due to demolition of resorts in Munnar, should be given jobs and rehabilitated.
The government has not initiated action against the officials who helped the persons encroach into public lands, he said.
On the allegations against State PWD Minister T U Kuruvila of putting up a petrol bunk on encroached land at Adimali, the Congress leader wanted Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan to look into it.
The self-financing professional colleges issue should be resolved through talks with managements, Chennithala said in reply to a question.
