Illegal telemarketing cos to face the heat

MUMBAI: DoT and Trai will together come out with stringent action against unregistered telemarketing companies who send bulk text messages and make telemarketing calls, said Sachin Pilot, minister of state for Communications & IT. He said that though the misuse is at its peak, less than 10% of the total mobile users have registered in the ‘Do Not Call’ registry.

”Most of the mobile users haven’t registered themselves with this facility,” he said.

To avoid call drops, he said the ministry has given instructions to all operators to ensure quality of service. With 680-million users and a monthly addition of 16-18 million customers, the mobile device is going to change the lives of people in a big way, added Mr Pilot.
