Idea's subscriber base crosses 1-cr mark

The newly added Himachal Pradesh is the ninth circle in which the company provides its services.

NEW DELHI: GSM sevices provider, Idea Cellular on Wednesday said its subscriber base has crossed the one crore mark after the company launched cellular service in Himachal Pradesh.
Idea, an Aditya Birla group company, has around 10 lakh subscribers each in seven out of eight circles the company operates, the company said in a release.
The newly added Himachal Pradesh is the ninth circle in which the company provides its services, it said.
The company had added the maximum number of subscribers in the first five months of this fiscal, the release added.
"Last year has witnessed tremendous growth in the telecom sector and we are happy to have kept pace with this progress," Idea Cellular President and Chief Executive Officer Vikram Mehmi said.
