Idea offers 25 pc discount on international roaming

NEW DELHI: Aditya Birla group firm Idea Cellular today said it will offer its postpaid subscribers 25 per cent discount on international roaming in 12 countries.

"Idea postpaid subscribers can avail a flat 25 per cent discount on their mobile phone usage while travelling to any of the 12 countries. The offer is valid for three months till July 14, 2011," Idea Cellular said in a statement.

These countries include the UAE, US, Singapore, UK, Thailand, China, Germany, France and Switzerland.

"I'm confident that the new offer will boost our international roaming usage during the season," Idea Cellular Chief Marketing Officer Sashi Shankar said.

Idea Cellular claims to be country's third largest telecom operator with over 89 million subscribers.

* * * Tata Docomo launches MyFamily plan

* Tata Docomo, the GSM arm of Tata Teleservices (TTSL), today announced a new plan for its postpaid customers, wherein members of a family can communicate with each other from a single plan.

The new plan 'MyFamily' is part of the telecom operator's 'Keep It Simple, campaign', TTSL said in a statement.

"Postpay customers can stop worrying about managing multiple bills, multiple plans, and multiple payments dates. With MyFamily Plans, the family can now benefit from buying a single unit and eat from a very large common pool of minutes, data and SMS," Tata Teleservices Head Corporate Marketing GurinderSingh Sandhu said.

Subscribers can select from three variants of the plan -- Rs 999 (up to 3 connections), Rs 1,999 and Rs 2,999 (up to 5 connections).

TTSL, which offers both GSM and CDMA services had 87.65 million subscribers as on February 28, 2011.
