Idea Cellular's Managing Director Himanshu Kapania has been re-elected as chairman of GSM players' body Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) for 2013-14.

NEW DELHI: Idea Cellular's Managing Director Himanshu Kapania has been re-elected as chairman of GSM players' body Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) for 2013-14.

Vodafone India's Managing Director and CEO Marten Pieters has been re-elected as Vice-Chairman, COAI said in a release.

In his address, Kapania said that India is inching towards the landmark figure of one billion mobile subscriptions by the year 2014.

However, India is still a part of the unfinished growth story in global mobile telephony, he said.

"Indian telecom closed Calendar Year 2012 with revenues of USD 27 billion, and this is a meager 2.3 per cent of the estimated global telecom revenue of USD 1.16 trillion," he added.
