NEW DELHI: Idea Cellular said it has received from DoT the Unified Licences for seven circles that had been quashed by the Supreme Court in February 2012.

In November auctions last year, the company had won spectrum in these service areas. The Unified Licence allows operators to offer a wide range of telecom of services.

"The company has signed on October 11, 2013 Unified License with the Department of Telecommunications, in respect of its seven service areas namely Tamil Nadu, Orissa, West Bengal, Kolkata, Assam, North East and Jammu & Kashmir," Idea said in a filing to the BSE.

The operative licences of these service areas were among the overall 122 licences of various companies quashed by the Supreme Court in its February 2, 2012 order in the 2G spectrum allocation case.

"The company thereafter bid and won the spectrum in respect of the said seven service areas in the auction held in November, 2012," the filing said.

In addition to the seven circles, the company got spectrum for Bihar circle also, which was unaffected by the Supreme Court order.
