MUMBAI: Idea Cellular has slashed STD charges to Rs 1.30 per minute, matching the lowest long distance call rates being offered by Vodafone Essar.
Market leader Bharti offers STD services at Rs 1.50 per minute. The new tariff is effective May 9 and can be availed by all Idea subscribers, the telco said in a statement in Mumbai.
Idea has also slashed national roaming rates. Subscribers will be charged Re 1 per minute on incoming and outgoing local calls and Rs 1.50 per minute while roaming for all STD calls. ���This national roaming tariff becomes applicable effective May 12 across all partner networks,��� it added.
���The new STD and roaming charges will change the telephony landscape across our country,��� Idea chief marketing officer Pradeep Shrivastava said.
