Idea Cellular adds max GSM subscribers in June

NEW DELHI: Idea Cellular, the country’s third largest telecom operator, added maximum 1.62 million GSM subscribers in the month of June, ahead of leading telco Bharti Airtel, which added 1.2 million users during the same time period, data from GSM lobby body COAI said.

Idea’s overall subscriber base stood at 162 million, while Bharti Airtel’s base reached 230.6 million.

Vodafone India added 0.39 million new subscribers, taking the overall base to 185.38 million

Telenor-owned Uninor stood at the third spot in terms of new customer additions at 0.42 million. Aircel added 0.3 million new subscribers during the month. Videocon Telecom added 0.15 million subscribers, followed by MTNL with 0.2 million.

The overall GSM subscriber base reached 720.3 million in June, up 0.58% from previous month.
