Idea Cellular adds 1.73 million subscribers in September

Idea has added 1.73 mn new GSM subscribers in Sept, followed by the Indian unit of Vodafone with 1.35 mn users, and Airtel, 1.02 mn.

NEW DELHI: Aditya Birla Group’s Idea Cellular has added 1.73 million new GSM subscribers in September, followed by the Indian unit of UK’s Vodafone with 1.35 million users, and Sunil Mittal-driven Bharti Airtel, 1.02 million.

Aircel has added 1-million new subscribers while Uninor roped in 0.94 million customers on to its network in September.

The total subscriber base showed 0.82% increase over August with 6.12 million new connections in September, GSM industry group COAI in a statement said.

The overall GSM subscriber base in India reached 756.08 million, according to COAI data.
