Idea biggest gainer in MNP sweepstakes

Close to a year after the launch of Mobile Number Portability, the facility that allows customers to change their service provider, but retain their cellphone number, only about 1.8 crore people have availed this facility.

Only three GSM incumbents have gained customers through MNP. Idea Cellular tops the charts with a net gain of 15.7 lakh customers followed by Vodafone and Bharti Airtel at 12.1 lakh and 3 lakh, respectively.

RCOM has been the worst impacted as the telecom has a net loss of 13.4 lakh users, followed by Tata Teleservices that lost 8.6 lakh and BSNL which recorded a net loss of over 5 lakh users.
