Idea applies to DoT for NLD licence

Tata Teleservices' Idea Cellular has applied for National Long Distance Licence (NLD) to the Department of Telecom.

NEW DELHI: Tata Teleservices' Idea Cellular has applied for National Long Distance Licence (NLD) to the Department of Telecom.

DoT officials said that the department has sent queries on the some of the information given by Tata Teleservices on its STD application.

Another cellular player Hutchison Essar, whose STD application is already with DoT, has to get the approval for an investment promotion board first before it is considered.

Global communication major AT&T has also applied for NLD as well as ILD licence.
