Idea adds 2.54 million subscribers in November

India’s GSM connections rose 1.24% over the previous month to 670.25 mn. Bharti Airtel had 215.46 mn subscribers at the end of last month.

NEW DELHI: Aditya Birla Group’s telecom unit Idea Cellular has added 2.54 million subscribers in November, the highest among GSM-based operators in India.

The local unit of UK-based Vodafone came next with 2.33 million additions, followed by Bharti Airtel at 2.05 million, telecom lobby group Cellular Operators Association of India said in a news release.

India’s GSM connections in November rose 1.24% over the previous month to 670.25 million, it said. Market leader Bharti Airtel had 215.46 million subscribers at the end of last month.

UP East had the highest number of GSM subscribers among India’s 22 telecom circles, with 58.85 million people subscribing to service provided on the popular communication platform.
