Hutch telecom service providers on Thursday announced a tie-up with the postal department in Tamil Nadu to enable its customers to pay their bills conveniently at designated post offices.

CHENNAI: Hutch telecom service providers on Thursday announced a tie-up with the postal department in Tamil Nadu to enable its customers to pay their bills conveniently at designated post offices.

Radhika Doraiswamy, Principal Chief Post Master General, Tamil Nadu, speaking at the function to announce the joint initiative said the tie-up was applicable to 131 designated post offices including 36 in Chennai.

"This service was specially targeted at customers who prefer to make payments in cash," she said.

Kumar Ramanathan, operations director, Hutch, Tamil Nadu said, "Hutch customers need to send an SMS `PO' and PIN code of their area to 111 to locate a designated post office at a location nearest to them."

He said, "Hutch had been exploring newer and innovative options to make bill payments a simple and convenient process for the customers adding the tie-up would lead to increased accessibility to them."
