Hughes ties up with Oxigen

Broadband satellite networks and services provider Hughes has tied-up with online payments solutions services company Oxigen to provide pre-paid recharge and bill payment services.


NEW DELHI: Broadband satellite networks and services provider Hughes has tied-up with online payments solutions services company Oxigen to provide pre-paid recharge and bill payment services.

The agreement would give customers of all telecom service providers the freedom to recharge their numbers even while on roaming, a Hughes release said here.

The service would provide a single window for recharge and bill payment besides giving customers freedom from restriction on denomination for recharge, it said.

The service would be first available across 250 HughesNet Fusion centres in phase-I and subsequently, would be increased to 1,000 centres by the end of 2006, it said.

According to industry estimates, the current market for recharge coupons stands at over Rs 16 million per month.

"Indian telecom market is growing at a CAGR of 29 per cent with addition of over 4.5 million subscribers every month. The tie-up will allow Oxigen services to be available across the country," Hughes Communications India Ltd Director Pranav Roach said.

Oxigen deals with electronic distribution of prepaid airtime and bill payment services in India.
