Hinduja TMT plans telecom foray

Hinduja TMT Ltd, renamed as Hinduja Ventures Ltd, is set to apply for telecom licenses.

MUMBAI: Hinduja TMT Ltd, renamed as Hinduja Ventures Ltd, is set to apply for telecom licenses. Hinduja TMT, in the past, had run mobile telephony services in Gujarat circle through Fascel Ltd, under the brand name Cell Force, and later consolidation with Hutch for creating a nationwide structure. The company exited the telecom business in 2006.

The company will be applying for the licenses through HTMT Telecom, which is subsidiary of Hinduja TMT. Hinduja TMT has also taken a 90 per cent stake in HTM Telecom Pvt Ltd.

Hinduja TMT, a subsidiary Indus Media and Communications Ltd, is India's largest cable TV multi system operator with 6 million subscribers. Hinduja TMT through its subsidiary proposes to fulfill its triple play offering in the market.

At 2:17 pm, Hinduja TMT shares were up 0.30 per cent at Rs 438 on BSE.
