HC seeks govt's reply on spectrum allocation policy

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the centre on a PIL challenging the policy of first come-first served for apportioning spectrum to the telecom operators causing loss of crores of public money.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the centre on a PIL challenging the policy of first come-first served for apportioning spectrum to the telecom operators causing loss of crores of public money.

A Division bench comprising Chief Justice A P Shah and Justice S Muralidhar asked the government to file its response within three weeks and posted the matter for further hearing on December 10.

Petitioner Arvind Gupta, alleged that the Ministry of Communications had followed a procedure which was against the recommendations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India( TRAI).
