MUMBAI: Ananda Mukherji, managing director and CEO, Firstsource (formerly called ICICI OneSource) may not be a technology geek but he surely knows how to use technology to manage his life.
When it comes to buying any electronic gadgets, the look along with the software embedded in the gadget has to appeal to him. Mr Mukherji uses the sleek silver-coloured MotoRAZR as his handphone. He says, “I don’t want a phone with fancy features like unlimited video recording or radio, I want a phone which can efficiently perform essential functions of a mobile phone.”
In office, he connects his Sony Waio laptop to a bigger screen and a keyboard, for his day-to-day work. While at work, he also likes to read international publications. He discourages people to write an email unless the information to be passed on is critical.
“Since I don’t like to flood my inbox much. I receive about 50 mails a day and end up replying to 30 or so.” The workoholic Mukerji likes to be connected with the office all the time. That’s why he carries a BlackBerry to access his emails anytime.
At home, “I have a Wi-Fi zone for myself where I spend a lot of time while working from home and otherwise,” he adds. But he doesn’t access Internet on flight. “I don’t access Internet while on flight because you don’t want to work on a long flight since you know that for the next couple of days there is going to be a lot of work. I would prefer to land fresh.”
“The only time my phone is unreachable is when my wife switches it off while we are on a holiday,” he jokes. On a scale of 10, Mr Mukherji would rate himself close to six but we would give him eight for using important gadgets to their maximum ability.
