Got the letter: Mittal; get ready for launch, minister tells Telcos

Bharti Airtel chairman Sunil Mittal said that the telco received its spectrum allocation letter along with E-band airwaves for backhaul within a few hours of the company making its upfront payment for airwaves "Yesterday [Wednesday], Airtel paid ₹8,312.4 crore towards spectrum dues and was provided the allocation letter for the designated frequency bands within hours... in my over 30 years of first-hand experience with DoT, this is a first, business as it should be, leadership at work - right at the top and at the helm of telecom," Mittal said in a statement on Thursday.

Separately, telecom minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the winners of 5G airwaves had been issu ed spectrum allocation letters and called on operators to prepare for their 5G launches. "Spectrum assignment letter (s) issued... requesting TSPs to prepare for 5G launch," Vaish naw said in a post on Koo.
