Fresh tender for GSM lines likely

BSNL on Friday said it may order about 10 million GSM phone lines worth about $1 billion from Ericsson or Nortel Networks Corp, after Nokia Siemens Network (NSN) refused to accept the orders for this equipment.

NEW DELHI: BSNL on Friday said it may order about 10 million GSM phone lines worth about $1 billion from Ericsson or Nortel Networks Corp, after Nokia Siemens Network (NSN) refused to accept the orders for this equipment.

BSNL chairman and managing director Kuldeep Goel told the media that the PSU was also exploring the option of floating a fresh tender for these 10 million lines.
