The government on Friday said foreign players will be allowed to offer 3G services in India.

NEW DELHI: The government on Friday said foreign players will be allowed to offer 3G services in India.

Communication Minister A Raja, who is proposing to discuss this issue with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh soon, said the modalities of working out the spectrum auction for 3G services has been referred to the Law Ministry.

"Either way foreign players will be allowed; that is 74 per cent FDI is allowed in the telecom sector. Whether there is common auction or open auction there is be no bar on foreign players," Raja said at an Assocham function here.
