FLAG Telecom heads to Maldives

RCL subsidiary, FLAG Telecom, is now heading to Maldives, to link the island through an undersea cable communication system for international bandwidth.

BANGALORE: RCL subsidiary, FLAG Telecom, is now heading to Maldives, to link the island through an undersea cable communication system for international bandwidth. It has reached an agreement with Wataniya Telecom.

The landing station for FALCON cable system at Male, Maldives, is being constructed by Wataniya Telecom, which is second largest mobile operator in the island, and RCL is expecting majority of the international telecom traffic to be routed through this cable.

FALCON will be the first undersea cable landing in Maldives and it has so far been connected internationally only through satellite bandwidth. Maldives would be connected with 4 continents to the 65,000 km FLAG network through the FALCON cable system.
