Essar expects Rs 3,000-cr turnover by ’10

Essar Telecom Retail, the mobile phones and accessories retailing arm of the Ruias, is eyeing more than Rs 3,000-crore turnover by 2010.

MUMBAI: Essar Telecom Retail, the mobile phones and accessories retailing arm of the Ruias, is eyeing more than Rs 3,000-crore turnover by 2010 with a footprint in 600 cities through nearly 3,000 stores, a top company official said.

“We expect to corner more than 10% share of the Rs 30,000-crore mobile phone market over the next three years,” Essar Telecom Retail Ltd CEO and director Rajiv Agarwal said. Similarly, it expects to capture a 5% share of the Rs 80,000-crore telephone services sector, involving mobile recharges and other value-added services, by 2010. Presently, Essar has a network of 220 stores, called The Mobile Stores, which it expects to enhance to 700 by the end of March 2008, he said.
