EGoM to decide on spectrum and licence issues

NEW DELHI: The Empowered Group of Ministers ( EGoM) headed by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will take the final call on auction of spectrum and telecom licence-related issues, Telecom Secretary R Chandrashekhar said.

"(EGoM's) terms of reference has been extended to include spectrum allocation and licence related issues... V Narayanasamy (Minister of State in PMO) is also now part of this group," he said.

The EGoM is looking into vacation of spectrum.

He further said that Department of Telecommunications is looking into the Trai's recommendation on 'Auction of Spectrum'.

"We will get back to Trai in case we have some a different view and if some clarifications are required," he said, adding that "the final decision will be taken by EGoM".
