COAI welcomes Reliance's decision to start GSM services

Cellular Operators Association of India on Monday welcomed Anil Ambani group company Reliance Communication's decision to start GSM services in the country for which the company has sought spectrum from the government.

NEW DELHI: Cellular Operators Association of India on Monday welcomed Anil Ambani group company Reliance Communication's decision to start GSM services in the country for which the company has sought spectrum from the government.

In a letter to Reliance Communication, COAI assured of all support and helps in their venture into GSM services and invited Reliance to participate in the ongoing GSM association’s meeting in the national capital.

Reliance offers CDMA-based mobile services in the country and claims to have a subscriber base of over 20 million.

Besides this, Reliance Telecom, a subsidiary of Reliance Communications, offers GSM services in the eastern states and North-East.
