Cellular companies served notices for illegal towers

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has served notices to various mobile service providers for erecting towers without seeking its permission.

AURANGABAD: The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has served notices to various mobile service providers for erecting towers without seeking its permission.

According to sources, there are over 200 mobile towers in the city, out of which, only 67 towers have been erected with the permission of the local body.

Taking a serious note of these unauthorized towers in the city, the AMC decided to initiate actions against the concerned mobile companies and served them notices demanding an explaination from each of them.

According to Assistant Commissioner of AMC, Bipin Wahul, a chance would be given to these mobile companies to explain their stand in the matter.

However, he refused to divulge the names of the mobile service providers.
