CellOne users can recharge pre-paid connection themselves

KOLKATA: BSNL’s CellOne subscribers will now be able to recharge their pre-paid connections themselves. A visit to their BSNL’s retailers will not be necessary. The amount recharged will be billed to the subscriber’s fixed phone connection.

A national roll-out is on the anvil and BSNL has decided to launch the facility in Kolkata on a trial run basis.

“Systems for such a facility are in place and a national roll out is likely to done before the Pujas,” Shakeel Ahmad, minister of state for communications and information technology told reporters on Friday.

“This is being done to do away with the problem of availability of CellOne recharge vouchers in BSNL’s retail outlets. It will allow subscribers to recharge their own prepaid connections themselves through a simple procedure,” explained SK Chakravarty, CGM, Calcutta Telephones.
