ByCell earmarks Rs 2,000 cr for providing telecom services
ByCell Telecommunications India on Wednesday said it has applied for Unified Access Service License (UASL) for all the circles and has earmarked Rs 2,000 crore for its expansion in telecom sector.
The company had applied for telecom licenses for five circles -- Assam, North East, West Bengal, Orissa and Bihar in 2006, while for the rest of the circles it has put in its application recently.
"We have applied for telecom licenses for the 17 circles before the cut-off date of October 1," ByCell Telecommunications India Director Andrey Polouektov told reporters here.
He said the company has lined up Rs 2,000 crore in the next three years for network roll out and other services required for providing telephony services. It is the first in the queue for UASL license, he added.
ByCell would focus on rural and semi-urban areas and provide fixed line, GSM and broadband services.
"India is experiencing exponential growth in the telecom sector and ByCell will certainly like to capture the momentum. There is huge potential in India's rural markets, which is similar to the ones in Afghanistan, Nigeria," company's Vice President - Operations Alexandre Louzine said.
After spending two years in project planning and development in India, ByCell is committed to the Indian telecom sector and is prepared for a quick roll-out.
