BT applies for STD, ISD licences
The UK-based BT has said it has applied for STD and ISD telecom licences to offer end-to-end managed services to corporate customnt Enpro Private Limited.
Announcing this, BT Global Services CEO Andy Green said, that India is one of the fastest growing market for BT. The company has strong growth plans for the country where it expects revenues to be 250 million dollars by 2009.
Majority of BTs' 15,000 people in Asia Pacific are in India and the company is looking to increase its employee strength to another 6,000 in the country, he added.
When granted, the licences will enable BT's newly formed JV company, BT Telecome India Pvt Ltd, to offer services for the first time directly to domestic and international managed services to corporate customers who have sites in India.
It will provide these companies with services like Virtual Private Networks (VPS) and other internet protocol services.
