BSNL told to beef up connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh

KOLKATA: The government has asked state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam to beef up telecom connectivity in the far flung corners of Arunachal Pradesh, especially districts near the Chinese border, amid heightened security concerns, a top telecom department official told ET.

Senior telecom department ( DoT) officials recently conducted spot checks on telecom connectivity across the Northeast and claimed there is “virtually zero network coverage in 1,089 villages, many of which are in Arunachal's border districts, which can pose a huge security threat if not addressed on a war footing,” the official said.
