BSNL plans four new services for its mobile subscribers
State-run telephone operator BSNL on Thursday said it was finalising four new location-based services as part of its strategy to augment the bouquet of new offerings to its mobile subscribers.
The new services comprise Fleet Management Service, Track Your Buddy, Advertisement Services and Chatting, BSNL Mobile, (Karnataka Operations) General Manager R Mani said at a press conference.
Under the Fleet Management Service, a logistics company could track all the vehicles deployed in a location while under Advertisement Services, those interested could send out advertisement messages to subscribers in a limited area.
Under the Track Your Buddy services, one could keep track of the location of a friend and chatting could help to interact with a subscriber in 10 kms range. "If all works well, we hope to get it rolling by December", he said.
On questions relating to poor services in some parts of the city, he said, "We have identified 60 out of the 650 towers set up as being ones that were facing heavy congestion or radio channel choking".
However, the problem could be resolved only if new equipments are installed or their signals boosted. Currently, a tender for the equipment had run into rough weather, leading to delays in procuring them. However, the problem is expected to be rectified in another three months by when equipments would be procured, he said.
