BSNL gets bids from Huawei, ZTE six others for rural WiMax

The government on Monday said it has received bids from companies like ZTE, Huawei and TCIL for the second phase of WiMAX rural tender project by BSNL.

NEW DELHI: The government on Monday said it has received bids from companies like ZTE, Huawei and TCIL for the second phase of WiMAX rural tender project by BSNL.

The state-run telco has invited bids for WiMAX Rural Tender Project-II and the bidders are Gemini Communications, ZTE, Icomm Tele, Vipula MCL, Spanco, TCIL, Huawei Telecommunications and Aster Communications, minister of state for communications and IT Gurudas Kamat said told the Lok Sabha in a written reply .

He added that BSNL has finalised the decision for issue of advance purchase order to top three bidders -- Gemini, ZTE and Icomm.

In a separate answer, Kamat said the total deposits in post office small savings schemes in the current fiscal year (till December) is Rs 1,49,182.28 crore. This is against Rs 1,46,697.43 crore in 2008-09.
