BSNL has completed the feasibility study for locating the country's fourth cable landing station (CLS) at Haldia in West Bengal.

KOLKATA: State-owned BSNL has completed the feasibility study for locating the country's fourth cable landing station (CLS) at Haldia in West Bengal.

West Bengal IT Secretary Siddharth said the feasibility study had been completed by BSNL.

"BSNL will submit it to the union communication and IT ministry," he said.

The West Bengal government had long been pursuing the communications ministry for locating a CLS at Haldia, following which former Communications minister Dayanidhi Maran had asked BSNL to undertake a feasilibility study way back in 2006.

While VSNL (now Tata Communications) had set up two CLSs at Mumbai and Kochi, Bharti had put up one CLS at Chennai.

IT and ITeS companies were looking forward for a CLS at Haldia.
