BSNL chairman calls on J&K governor on network expansion

BSNL Chairman Kuldip Goyal called on Jammu and Kashmir governor N N Vohra and apprised him of the difficulties faced by the telecom firm in expanding and upgrading the network in the state.

SRINAGAR: BSNL Chairman Kuldip Goyal on Saturday called on Jammu and Kashmir governor N N Vohra and apprised him of the difficulties faced by the telecom firm in expanding and upgrading the network in the state, officials said.

The Governor, on his part, emphasised the role of telecommunication in the development of the state, particularly the remotes regions.

He stressed the crucial importance of telecommunication facilities for the economic growth of J&K which has remote and high altitude areas and suffering from varied locational disadvantages.

The Governor advised Goyal to meet state authorities, particularly the Chief Secretary and discuss BSNL's difficulties.

Vohra had earlier taken up the matter with the Union Minister for Communications and IT, A Raja, after a number of people from various parts of the state had met the Governor and brought to his notice the difficulties being faced by them.
