BSNL Board meets to review GSM tender
The Board of state-run firm BSNL on Monday met to consider the GSM tender in the wake of telecom minister A Raja's assertion to review the contracts.
"Keeping in mind the minister's suggestions and BSNL's interests, we have taken some decisions which will be conveyed to Raja," BSNL chairman and managing director A K Sinha said after the meeting.
The Board was to take a decision on the 45.5 million lines GSM tender, for which the company had earlier selected Ericsson and Nokia as the suppliers. However, it could not place the contracts as Raja wanted the company to re-negotiate the price and drop the 3G component from the tender.
