Bharti Teletech wins biggest exporter award
Bharti Teletech, a subsidiary of Sunil Mittal led Bharti group, has emerged as a major exporter of telephone sets with a sales of one million units to 30 countries in 2006-07.
The company has been adjudged the biggest exporter of telecommunication equipment by the Electronics & Computer Software Export Promotion Council, Bharti Teletech said in a statement.
The award was handed over by Communications Minister A Raja to Bharti Teletech CEO Pawan Kapur Ltd at the ESC Awards ceremony here last night, it added.
The award is a reaffirmation of Beetels manufacturing prowess in the telecom sector, not only in India but also globally, Kapur said.
Established in 1985, Bharti Teletech has manufacturing facilities at Ludhiana and Goa with an installed capacity of 6 million telephone units annually upgradeable to 10 million units. Besides fixed line and mobile phones, the company also markets set top boxes, modems, fixed cellular phones and fixed cellular and wireless terminals.
The company offers over 45 different Beetel phone models with prices ranging from Rs 295 to Rs 3,795 across basic, feature and cordless phones, he said.
