Bharti group Chairman Sunil Mittal meets Finance Minister P Chidambaram

NEW DELHI: Bharti group Chairman Sunil Mittal on Wednesday met Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who also heads Empowered Group of Ministers on Telecom which is scheduled to meet on November 22.

Mittal offered no comment on his meeting with Chidamabram.

The meeting comes a day after Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of Idea Cellular, met Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal.

The EGoM is expected to take a view on several issues, including the base price of spectrum for auction, schedule for bidding process and also various fees proposed under telecom mergers and acquisitions guidelines.

The final decision on spectrum base price will be taken by the Cabinet on the basis of EGoM recommendations.
