TRAI is set to recommend that spectrum for mobile TV services be allotted through an auction process, reports Our Bureau from New Delhi.
“We are talking about delinking licence from spectrum. Operators may like to bid for spectrum marked for mobile TV,” Trai chairman Nripendra Mishra told reporters on the sidelines of an industry conference. Mr Misra also added that the recommendations would be presented to the government by Wednesday.
The regulator, in its recommendations, is also likely to propose a tech-nology-neutral approach. This is because, globally, mobile TV is still an evolving technology, and therefore many countries and operators use different platforms to offer this service.
