A Nokia mobile handset exploded while it was being charged at a shop dealing in cellphones here on Friday.

ASANSOL (WB): A Nokia mobile handset exploded while it was being charged at a shop dealing in cellphones here today.
The handset Nokia 1100 had a BL-5C battery, a huge number of which manufactured by Matsuhita Corporation were recalled by Nokia.
The proprietor of the shop, Ajit Prasad, said the set belonging to him exploded 10 minutes after he put it on charge.
Since he was a dealer of mobile phones, he said, he had asked that his phone be changed, but was told that it was not required.
Additional superintendent of police B Baidya has confirmed the incident.
Two days ago the mobile phone of a woman in Kolkata exploded while it was being charged. It, however, did not have the BL-5C battery.
